About this blog

Having (wisely or otherwise) been given custody of the blog of the Reading Ordinariate Mission I've taken considerable pleasure in identifying relevant artwork for the week - and wanted to make a note of some things I found out. Together with providing a way of keeping a record of some of the Hymns, readings and Psalms we'd heard - together with some helpful notes - gave sufficient motivation to attempt a new blog.

I'm envisaging a central series about the history of the art and iconography I've used in the Reading Ordinariate blog, a series on the hymns and music at Mass as well as a miscellany of posts on things that attract my attention. As a Mathematician by 'trade' I will probably find I have a predilection to the numerological.

The blog's title comes from the phenomenal hymn 'All hail, dear conqueror':

Down, down, all lofty things on earth,
  And worship him with joyous dread!
O sin, thou art undone by love;
  O death, thou art discomforted!
